Leeds United are set to sign Ditmir Hodja on a free transfer.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the 18-year-old striker is currently a free agent after his contract expired with Skopje, and the Premier League club has agreed to sign the attacker.
Multiple clubs were keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, but Leeds have managed to win the race for his signature. The youngster is highly rated across Europe, and he has a bright future. With the right guidance, he could develop into an important player for Leeds.
He is a young player with real potential. It remains to be seen whether he is handed ample first-team opportunities at Leeds United this season. Leeds United need more depth in the attacking unit. They were overly dependent on Dominic Calvert-Lewin last season. He scored 14 league goals and helped them secure safety in the Premier League. Leeds United need more depth and quality if they want to establish themselves as Premier League regulars.
Hodja will look to complete the formalities of the move, and focus on his football with Leeds United now.
The attacker scored six goals and picked up two assists in just eight senior appearances last season, and there is no doubt that he has the quality to compete at a higher level. He will need time to adapt to English football, but he could be an asset for Leeds United in the long-term.
Signing a player of his quality for free could prove to be a masterstroke. Given his age, Leeds will have to pay compensation, and they have already agreed a package with Skopje.
