Batshuayi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, which could allow him to walk away from the club as a free agent.

However, there is a one-year extension option as part of his deal, which could keep him there until the summer of 2025.

reported €3 (£2.6) million.

It has been reported via Aksam that one of the sides interested in signing the Belgian this summer is Leeds United.

The Championship side is chasing promotion to the Premier League this season, and could look to bolster their forward options with the signing of the 30-year-old as a free agent at the end of the campaign.

The striker has been an important part of the squad during his two seasons with the Turkish outfit, but has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Edin Dzeko last summer.

He has made 40 appearances in the top flight for Fenerbahce (all stats from Fbref), and contributed 21 goals.

But he has made just one start so far this season, with the team fighting for the title with Galatasaray.

It is understood that talks will be underway between the club and the player at the end of the season, with a decision yet to be made over his future.

A move to Leeds would bring him back to English football, where he previously played for Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Leeds United's attacking options

The Whites have the likes of Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford to choose from in attack at the moment.

However, it is Crysencio Summerville who tops the scoring charts for Leeds this season with a tally of 17 goals.

Daniel James is second best with 13, with Piroe holding the highest tally of the main striker options in the squad.

Given this, Farke may want to strengthen those options by adding further competition through the middle for next season.

Leeds’ league status is not yet known for next season, with the team chasing promotion to the Premier League.

This uncertainty could also play a role in deciding Batshuayi’s future, as he may only welcome a return to English football if it involves competing in the top flight.

Batshuayi likely to remain in Turkey

If Fenerbahce are keen to keep Batshuayi and there’s an option to extend his contract then that makes it likely he will stay.

There are stumbling blocks that could prevent a new deal, such as the player’s wage demands.

If Fenerbahce look to negotiate a lower salary, and he rejects that proposal, then that could open the door for a club like Leeds to swoop in.

However, this should be seen as a last resort option for the Whites, as Batshuayi is never likely to be anything more than a secondary choice in the Leeds squad if he signs.
