Leeds United winger Noah Okafor is absent for Switzerland’s friendly against Jordan today as he continues to struggle with a calf injury ahead of the World Cup.

The federation announced on Saturday that three players are unavailable, naming Okafor, Fabian Rieder with an ankle problem, and Gregor Kobel, who is being rested after flu. Yvon Mvogo will start in goal and the plan is to introduce Marvin Keller at half-time for a debut. Murat Yakin was not concerned about the longer-term availability of Okafor or Rieder.

The 26-year-old earned a recall in March on the back of strong club form, was an unused substitute in the 4-3 defeat to Germany, then did not make the matchday squad for the 0-0 draw in Norway.

Okafor hit form again late in the season for Leeds before a calf issue sidelined him for United’s final three Premier League matches.

He remains in Yakin’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, with Switzerland also set to face Austria next week as part of their build-up following today’s 1.30pm kick-off against Jordan.
