Leeds United intend to look at January options, but tight profit and sustainability rules leave little room to manoeuvre.

According to Leeds Live, Daniel Farke has hinted they could add a little in January, with priorities shaped by his 3-5-2. Managing director Robbie Evans said after deadline day that spending limits are maxed.

More than £100million went on 10 senior arrivals, with limited income. Rasmus Kristensen was the biggest sale at £7.7m to Einthracht Frankfurt. Darko Gyabi joined transfer-fee-restricted Hull City for free, with a sell-on of up to 50%.

Club figures, with Farke, opted to keep the title-winning core. He rarely buys in January, his last permanent winter deal came in 2023 at Borussia Monchengladbach, while Connor Roberts arrived only on loan in 2024. Loans remain viable, with fees smaller and potentially covered by commercial income.

Outgoings would be the quickest way to raise funds, but there are no soundings of imminent senior exits. Youngsters Harry Gray and Sam Chambers might seek loans. Purchases are possible if spending is balanced by 30 June, the current PSR deadline.

In theory, Werder Bremen could trigger buy-out clauses for Isaac Schmidt and Max Wober, though that seems unlikely. A pre-June sale of Charlie Cresswell by Toulouse would yield a 15% sell-on on profit. Hull view Joe Gelhardt as a summer target.

With next season’s division not assured, Leeds will be cautious this winter under tighter Championship caps, while staying alert to opportunities.
