Leeds United’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City at Elland Road could be paused in the first half so players observing Ramadan can break their fast.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds have no players fasting, but the game will pause if any of City’s starting XI need to do so at the side of the pitch. A decision will be taken once Pep Guardiola’s line-up is confirmed, with sunset in Leeds due at 5.41pm on Saturday.

The Premier League will continue its practice, introduced in April 2021, of allowing a natural stoppage around sunset so fasting players can take on food and drink.

Any pause will be brief and taken at a convenient moment after sunset, not while the ball is in full flow.

Only fixtures in the Saturday 5.30pm and Sunday 4.30pm broadcast slots are eligible for the pause.
