Harry Wilson faces a race to be fit for Leeds United’s Premier League trip to Arsenal next weekend after a quad issue. He is aiming to be available.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 29-year-old joined on a free from Fulham in the summer and has six appearances without a goal or assist.

Daniel Farke dropped Wilson for the second league game at home to Brentford, and strong team form has kept him out of the XI. He then missed last month’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace due to injury.

Before that Palace fixture, Farke said Wilson had a quad problem, that he would probably miss Wales duty, and that he hoped to have him back after the international break. Wilson pulled out of the squad the following day and is rehabbing at Thorp Arch alongside Joe Rodon.

The extended three-week break has softened the blow, since an absence of more than three weeks could equate to just one missed match. There are nine days until the Emirates trip, and Farke has repeatedly insisted he will not select players who have not trained with the group.

Leeds have operated without a natural right winger in recent weeks, using a midfield three and a front two. Noah Okafor often drifts left, while width on the right comes from wing-back Jayden Bogle with James Justin stepping across to cover. The approach is working, so there is no need to rush Wilson back, even if he is eager to get off the mark.
