Barcelona could soon see one of their most iconic figures walk back through the doors of the club, as Rivaldo has openly welcomed the idea of returning to the Blaugrana in the future.

With the 2026 election period edging closer, the legendary Brazilian forward, one of the most influential figures of the late 1990s, has made it clear that he is ready to listen if the right opportunity arises.

Speaking about the possibility of returning in any professional capacity, Rivaldo explained his openness to contribute to a club that once shaped his career.

“If something comes up for me in the future, I’m open to listening to the candidates.

“If I had the opportunity to work at a club like Barcelona in the future, I would accept it, because Barcelona did a lot for me when I played there.

“I have a special affection for that club,” he said, as quoted by SPORT.

Connection with FC Barcelona

The 1999 Ballon d’Or winner insists that his desire to help Barcelona comes from a deep personal connection and a belief that former footballers have valuable insight to offer.

He expressed admiration for the club’s recent trend of involving ex-players in key roles.

“I’m happy to see Belletti working there, and Deco too, within the club. I feel satisfied to see former players working at the institution.”

For now, however, the Brazilian legend maintains that he has not been officially approached. Nevertheless, he reiterated his readiness, adding with clarity, “I am always available.”

Happy with Laporta’s work

Turning his attention to Barcelona’s ongoing political landscape, Rivaldo also offered his perspective on the election climate.

He stressed that he views Joan Laporta’s current work positively, even if he is not fully immersed in the club’s internal dynamics.

“It’s true that I don’t know everything that’s going on there. If I lived in the city or was inside the club, I would have more information.

“We have to wait a little longer to find out who all the candidates will be, but in my opinion, Laporta is doing a good job.

“After Messi’s departure, a lot happened, and today we see a stronger club, we see Barcelona dreaming of winning the Champions League.”

Rivaldo concluded by highlighting his cordial relationship with Laporta, emphasising mutual respect.

“He never managed me as president, but whenever I’ve met him, he’s always been nice to me.

“As far as I’m concerned, there’s no problem with him continuing as president. He’s doing a good job,” he concluded.
