Legia Warsaw confirmed the capture of Spanish striker Marc Gual on Thursday, from fellow Ekstraklasa side Jagiellonia Białystok. The 27-year-old joins on a free transfer, and has signed a contract valid for three years.
Since joining the Żółto-Czerwoni from Ukrainian side SC Dnipro-1 in March 2022, Gual has impressed. After 31 games he currently leads both the Ekstraklasa’s top goalscorer and Canadian (combined goals and assists) standings, with 15 and 6 assists.
Gual joined Jagiellonia from Dnipro without having played a game for the Ukrainian side, having had his contract suspended due to the Russian aggression. Prior to that he had spent a year and a half in the Spanish second division with AD Alcorcón.
Much of his career in Spain had been spent in the lower leagues, starting with Espanyol B and later moving to Sevilla B. From Sevilla he was loaned to both Real Zaragoza and Girona in the second tier, and also spent half of the Covid-affected 2019/20 season at Real Madrid Castilla. He also made 3 appearances for Spain’s U21 side in 2017.
With the 2022/23 season still to finish, Gual is Legia’s second signing of the summer after the earlier capture of Patryk Kun from league champions Raków Częstochowa.
Gual will be a part of the Jagiellonia squad which travels to Warsaw tomorrow (Friday) to face his new club Legia.
