Leicester City have found "exactly" what they were looking for in new star signing Tete, transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested to GIVEMESPORT.

Tete has joined the Foxes until the end of the season, with the winger making an instant impact during Saturday's victory over Aston Villa.

Leicester City transfer news - Tete

Rounding Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, before tapping home into an empty net, Tete's maiden Leicester goal was the standout moment in a stellar debut for the Brazilian forward.

According to FotMob, only Man of the Match winner Kelechi Iheanacho, who picked up a goal and two assists himself versus Villa, scored a higher match rating than Tete.

Impressive at any time, but not least because Tete was appearing in his Leicester debut, having joined the club until the end of the season during the January transfer window.

Having experienced a tumultuous couple of months, Tete had originally left Shakhtar Donetsk following Russia's invasion of Ukraine last spring, joining French side Olympique Lyonnais.

FIFA rules introduced following the invasion allowed players contracted to Ukrainian clubs to move outside of the allotted transfer windows, with Tete shining for the Ligue 1 outfit during his nine-month spell with Lyon.

Tete notched up 18 goal contributions while in France, before leaving to sign for Leicester in the January window.

Interestingly enough, with his first appearance for the club on Saturday, Tete became the first Brazilian to ever play for Leicester and there are now suggestions he could be the player that kickstarts the Foxes' stumbling campaign.

What has Dean Jones said about Tete's start at Leicester?

Speaking in an interview with GMS, transfer insider Jones praised Leicester for their astute signing of Tete, hinting he was "exactly" what they needed.

On the 22-year-old, Jones said: "It’s exactly what they were signing him for.

"They were very clear about trying to find a player that could add that new edge of creativity and it looks like they've found someone in Tete, who can do exactly that.”

What does Tete offer Leicester?

As reported by 90min during the January transfer window, Tete was offered to a number of Premier League sides as his exit from Lyon became more and more likely.

According to the report, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and even Arsenal were all made aware of his availability, with Leicester eventually swooping in.

It could prove to be a solid piece of business for the Foxes, especially considering his status as one of Europe's most promising players.

FBref have Tete ranked inside the top 12 per cent for non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes, indicating he's a talent worth keeping hold of.

Whether or not Leicester will be able to lure him back to the King Power Stadium at the end of the season remains to be seen, but Tete, who is valued at £25 million by Transfermarkt, is certainly a player to keep an eye on during the remaining part of the campaign.
