Leicester City manager Martí Cifuentes has confirmed that defender James Justin is expected to be available for Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday, while Ricardo Pereira and Victor Kristiansen are set to miss out due to fitness concerns.
The match at King Power Stadium, kicking off at 4:30pm, marks the beginning of the 2025/26 campaign and will be Cifuentes’ first competitive fixture in charge of the Foxes.
Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, the new manager provided updates on his squad's condition, noting that while all three players have recently missed training and pre-season matches, Justin has recovered sufficiently to be considered for selection.
"James Justin will be available for the game. His was just a knock and he’s alright and has been training well,” Cifuentes said.
"Ricardo’s got a minor muscular injury. He’s still working on it so most likely he will not be available for the game, but we don't expect him to be a long time away.
"Victor had an unfortunate collision during a practice and is in treatment so he will miss the game as well."
