Leicester boss says side too young after 4-0 home defeat | OneFootball

Russell Martin said his Leicester City side were too young after a 4-0 League One home defeat.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, Leicester have three Albion prospects on loan and none started. Harry Howell had scored on his first league start four days earlier in a 2-0 win over Plymouth, but this time he was on the bench with Kamari Doyle and Tommy Watson.

Doyle, 21, came on at the break for 33-year-old Bobby Decordova-Reid. He was soon followed by 18-year-old Howell for Wes Burns, 31, on the right. Watson, 20, also entered then, replacing 21-year-old Will Alves.

Martin said he removed experienced players to try to inject energy, then felt the team finished too young and too inexperienced. He called the performance naive and too soft.

Leicester’s midfield has been built around Sammy Braybrooke, 22, and Louis Page, 18, and both have impressed.

Albion keep a close eye on how their young players fare on loan.

Leicester are under pressure after a dismal start back in the third tier following two successive relegations. They visit Stockport County on Saturday.
