Leicester City have been urged to cash in on Jeremy Monga if they receive an offer of £10 to £15 million.

Leicester City have endured a very difficult time of it in recent years with The Foxes now heading into a summer transfer window that is preparation for a shock return to League One.

Having been relegated from the Premier League in the 2024/25 campaign, Leicester then succumbed to a successive demotion last season with a chaotically managed season both on and off the pitch.

Points deductions hampered them and the off-field crisis’ that have been impacting them, and still do with concerns over their financial situation ahead of the third division, but Leicester remained woeful on the pitch, too.

Their significant underperformance came after City had embarked upon the acceptance of a mass exodus in August last summer, and some money was raised.

However, with things remaining tight and a rebuild desperately required, it could well be that the club once again attempt to cash in on a young star.

It has been reported that young winer Jeremy Monga could be available for around £10 to £15 million and that is a number that FLW’s Leicester Fan Pundit Jamie Preston believes should be acceptable for The Foxes.

Jamie says: “When Jeremy Monga first came into the first-team, not even 16, we heard fabulous reports about him in the youth team; ripping it up, ripping all these teams up but it is a totally different level at first-team level.

“He came into the first-team at Championship level and he hasn’t really shown us the best of form.

“I can imagine he is going to be an absolutely fantastic talent once he puts a bit more weight on and grows up a bit, and learns his footballing skill.

“£10 or £15 million, that’s absolutely fantastic money for him. Man City were sniffing about 18 months ago for him but, in the state we’re in, £10 or £15 million would be absolutely pure profit being a lad from the academy.

“It’s a bit of a ‘catch 22’. Do we risk keeping him for a year in League One? He might get injured because there are some bruisers in League One and if you do them tricks on them then you’ll be taken out or do we take £10 or £15 million for him now?

“He doesn’t sign his first pro contact until he turns 17 so we’ve got a wait another month or so before anything happens.

“To be honest, with the mess we’re in, I would take the money because we need all the money we can get and then build from there.

“Yes we may lose a talent but we need to save the club and that money will help save the club.”

Jeremy Monga remains someone with immense potential at Leicester

In April 2025, as their Premier League campaign was winding down, Jeremy Minga became the second-youngest, now third-youngest, player to play in the Premier League when he replaced Bilal El Khannouss in a 3-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United.

Monga, who has now represented England at U15, U16, U18 and U19 level, signed a new scholarship contract with the club last summer, waiting to sign a professional deal in mid-July when he turns 17.

The Coventry-born attacker showed some flashes of quality last season, and did net for the eventually relegated midlanders, without really proving himself overly capable for that level just yet.

However, frankly, for a 16-year-old to have already made over 30 appearances across the Premier League and the Championship in the disorganised pressure cooker that is Leicester City; the excitement about what he could become is fair.

It is also reasonable to suggest, though, that Leicester’s desire to be able to play well and win now is far more pressing than the hope of linear development for a young player and so a big offer may well be too tempting to turn down.

Leicester have raised £14.6 million from the sale of El Khannouss this summer, with his loan to Stuttgart now being made a permanent move, but, given what the situation is at the King Power Stadium, cashing in again may be their only option.
