Leicester City are sweating on the fitness of Jordan James and Oliver Skipp after both were substituted in the draw with Wrexham, leaving Marti Cifuentes light in midfield.

James is the bigger concern after a hamstring problem, receiving treatment after 15 minutes before going off on 40. Cifuentes said James felt the muscle and would need assessing, adding he hoped it was not a bad one.

Skipp was withdrawn with around 20 minutes to play after he collided with two Wrexham players contesting a high ball and took a knock to the head. He was very dizzy, and the medical team will be consulted on his condition.

Losing two midfielders would be a blow, with Aaron Ramsey already sidelined by a hamstring injury and Harry Winks not being considered for selection.

If neither is available to face Oxford on Saturday, City must choose a trio from Boubakary Soumare, Hamza Choudhury, Louis Page and Bobby De Cordova-Reid. Soumare has not started since early November, Choudhury is viewed as a full-back first, and Page has not begun a league game since August, despite impressive substitute outings of late.

James’ absence would also strip goals from the side. He is their top scorer with nine this season, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu tied second on five.
