Leicester City supporters have reacted coolly to renewed links with Russell Martin, amid claims of a lucrative offer to bring him to the King Power Stadium.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the club hope to appoint the 40-year-old and have made a final, lucrative proposal.
Martin is out of work after being sacked by Rangers in October, having lasted only 17 games. He has previously been linked with City, reportedly in contention when Ruud van Nistelrooy was sacked last summer and again in January following Marti Cifuentes’ exit.
Many fans on social media voiced opposition, calling the prospect a backward step and expressing strong reservations. Some highlighted his difficult start at Rangers and criticised his Southampton spell, questioning tactics and results.
Others were more open, suggesting his approach could suit the current squad and noting that players at Southampton rated him. They also pointed to his willingness to promote youth and said any new manager should be given a fair chance if appointed.
