Leicester City are among the clubs interested in Real Zaragoza defender Yussif Saidu, El Periodico Aragon reports.

Russell Martin’s squad are light at centre-back and in defensive midfield, with Ben Nelson’s ACL injury increasing the need for reinforcements. Wout Faes is likely to depart, so City are exploring options.

Saidu, 21, featured 10 times at centre-back last season and can also operate as a No. 6. Zaragoza were relegated from La Liga 2 and now play in Spain’s third tier.

Zaragoza were understood to value Saidu at €5m earlier in the summer, but interest from Turkish Super League side Amed SFK has shifted their stance. Amed are said to have offered a €300,000 loan with a €3m option to buy, while Zaragoza have sought a €500,000 loan fee and a €4m mandatory purchase clause.

Stoke City and Rapid Vienna have enquired about Saidu’s availability. Leicester, Burnley and some German clubs are also said to be on alert.

Leicester have not been linked with many centre-backs this summer despite uncertainty over personnel. Harry Souttar now looks set to stay after a change in approach from Sheffield United, and Martin has named the Australian captain in the first two games of the season.
