Leicester City have reshaped their squad with nine arrivals and several exits, and with under two weeks left the focus is on defence. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, more business in and out is expected before the deadline.
Russell Martin has strengthened the frontline with Admir Bristric, Liam Cullen and Wes Burns, but centre-back is now the priority. Ben Nelson’s ACL means at least one defender is needed, and with Wout Faes left out amid interest and expected to go permanently, two could be required.
Harry Souttar has drawn rejected bids from Sheffield United and they are not expected to have given up. If he is sold near the £10m mark, up to three centre-backs might arrive.
Rangers’ John Souttar has been linked all summer, he has not featured in their squads and could leave before the deadline. The loan market also appeals, with EFL rules allowing five loanees in a matchday squad, so City can still add two.
Sheffield United’s Mark McGuinness is not in Chris Wilder’s plans as they pursue Souttar to partner Japhet Tanganga. He started their first two games and scored at Mansfield Town, but could slip down the order if they recruit, and is viewed as a strong option if City cannot keep Souttar.
In midfield, a dream finish would be moving Oliver Skipp on then adding another defensive midfielder. In attack, Stephy Mavididi has suitors, Louis Page has interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, and another striker would still be ideal.
