Leicester City players are understood to pay to stay overnight at the Seagrave training base when they choose to remain on site, but are not charged on nights they are required to stay.

This follows a report claiming players were being billed £80 per night to use the on-site hotel at the £100 million facility, according to talkSPORT.

The policy is part of a push to encourage the squad to live closer to the club rather than spend hours commuting.

The issue surfaced around Harry Winks about 18 months ago, when it was alleged the midfielder preferred to travel to and from training daily.

Winks was reintegrated after Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure, yet he continued to have a difficult relationship with supporters during last season’s relegation campaign.

Martin’s young side have started inconsistently, with Saturday’s 4-3 win at Stockport County a much-needed response to the 4-0 home defeat by Oxford United.

As things stand they are 13th after six matches, with two wins and two draws.
