Leicester City were relegated to League One after a 2-2 draw with play-off chasing Hull at the King Power Stadium, 10 years on from their Premier League title. They needed a win to keep hopes alive for 24 more hours.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the stands were three-quarters full at best and the home players were booed before kick-off and at half-time, with only Jordan James spared the pre-match jeers.

City began reasonably as Patson Daka lofted a bouncing ball onto the roof of the net. Asmir Begovic then passed straight to Liam Millar who scored, and five minutes before the break Daka stretched to poke wide from Luke Thomas’s cross.

After the break, Abdul Fatawu was tripped and James buried the penalty. Two minutes later Thomas met Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s delivery to put City ahead, before Oli McBurnie levelled about 10 minutes later.

With 25 minutes left, City chased a winner. Aaron Ramsey, on his first outing of 2026, spurned three chances and Daka hit the post from a superb Divine Mukasa cross, Gary Rowett’s side could not force a winner.

Player ratings saw Thomas and James 7, Ricardo Pereira and Jannik Vestergaard 6, Daka 5, Begovic 4 after his costly pass, Abdul Fatawu 4, and Stephy Mavididi 6.
