Leicester City have registered their interest in free agent left-back Max Lowe as they shape a League One squad, The Sheffield Star reports.
Lowe is out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with Wednesday keen to keep him. Derby, Stoke and Middlesbrough are also showing interest.
City were linked with Lowe last summer but, amid financial restrictions, a paid transfer was unlikely.
Primarily a left-back, Lowe spent much of this season for Wednesday on the left of a back three, and City could seek cover in both roles.
At left-back, City have two senior options under contract. Luke Thomas is a strong contender to remain, while an exit for Victor Kristiansen appears on the cards after he made clear he did not join to play in the third tier.
Bade Aluko is set to play a more prominent role next season. He has played at left-back in the past, though he is now principally used on the right.
At centre-back, Jamaal Lascelles is out of contract and Wout Faes, Ben Nelson, Caleb Okoli and Harry Souttar could all be sold, leaving only Jannik Vestergaard.
Lowe made 29 appearances for Wednesday this season and brings extensive Championship experience, the level City are aiming to return to. He has also played Premier League football with Sheffield United.
