Leicester City should sign Tottenham legend Christian Eriksen from Man United in January. He will be cheap as chips - So nothing to lose, right?
The January transfer window is nearing ever so closer. While we don't want to wish the festivities away, the new year will be just around the corner afterwards, which only means one thing for football fans; transfers.
For Leicester, they will definitely be active in the transfer window. It will be the perfect way for the Leicester owners to facilitate Ruud van Nistelrooy's plan and the budget is there. After all, the new manager has given the owners every reason to believe in him.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Ruben Amorim is open to selling Christian Eriksen and Antony in the January transfer window. This should definitely raise eyebrows at Leicester City.
I guess we must address the elephant in the room here. In my opinion, Leicester should not give Antony a second look. While Leicester might be interested in wide players in January, Antony is woeful. He is one of the worst players to ever play for Man United. Therefore, let's not entertain any rumours there, please.
However, Christian Eriksen is different. He is an established Premier League legend with incredible technical ability. He has been playing at a high level for a long time now and he is one of the best passers of the ball in England currently.
Leicester City do not need to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window. However, with Eriksen available at a cut-price in the January transfer window (his contract expires just six months after), Leicester wouldn't be taking a gamble by signing him.
This is just one of those "why not?" situations. It is not based on any reports or concrete moves made by Leicester (as it stands, there have been none made).
Of course, I am fully aware that the higher-ups do not operate on "why not?" philosophies. They are more prudent, tactical and long-term thinking than I am. Perhaps this is why they are the decision-makers and I am a spectator.
But hey, it would be... interesting... to see someone as excitable as me at the helm, wouldn't it? It was pretty fun watching a certain Mr Boehly pull (and break) the strings at Stamford Bridge, after all.
