According to The Sun, Leicester City are among Championship clubs weighing up a January move for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, with Queens Park Rangers and Southampton also monitoring him for an initial loan that could become permanent next summer.

Patterson, 25, came through Sunderland's academy and was their regular number one, helping win promotion to the Premier League last season.

He has since lost his place to Robin Roefs, and talk over his future has increased.

Leicester have used Jakub Stolarczyk as first choice this season. The 24-year-old has 17 starts, while Asmir Begovic has covered recently because of injury and made an error as they conceded against Ipswich yesterday.

Earlier this season, Stolarczyk said he was not expressly told he would be number one, adding that his work before the opener made him feel it was his chance and that he had taken it.
