Leicester City were narrowly beaten by Manchester United at the end of last week. And the Red Devils were somewhat lucky to be victorious. After the match, Boss of the King Power club Ruud van Nistelrooy was particularly unhappy with one element against United. He said previous 'Fergie time' is now 'in offside time'. In addition to that factor, we briefly look at van Nistelrooy and Gary Neville's disagreement on MUFC's progress.
Leicester City lost another game on Friday night. Though the Foxes were unfortunate to be beaten by United at Old Trafford. Former LCFC star defender Harry Maguire scored the absolutely contestable winner. The England international was well-offside judging from most angles of the goal replay on the day. City were often the better looking team before the final whistle blew. Although Man United did have more shots, they are a shell of their former selves.
I think those honest Utd supporters out there would agree they were ultimately lucky. For instance, Video Assistant Referee technology was not employed in the FA Cup. Nevertheless, the east Midlands side were technically defeated by the northern English outfit. Van Nistelrooy did speak of the previously mentioned incident. And the one-time Utd striker and interim manager was certainly displeased with the ref and his assistant's decision.
Prior to Leicester's trip north for cup competition, van Nistelrooy had a conflicting opinion to Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville. The two were once teammates, if you are not aware. The latter's basic assessment of Man United is more damming than RvN's:
"You can also lose one when you’ve won a lot. Every game is a new, a new challenge. Away to Manchester United, being Leicester City, is always a tough one but we want to represent ourselves in the best way possible and take it from there."RvN
"I thought it would get better when Ruben Amorim came in, the enthusiasm of him and the new system, the players would buy into and we’d see a bounce. But we’ve seen the absolute opposite and it’s got a lot worse"Gary Neville
