Yes it's a slow news week for fans of Leicester City Football Club. Not to mention for Premier League spectators from around the world as well. That's right - we are in the middle of a monumentally long and drawn-out international break. At least on this occasion the EPL hiatus is deserving, with no useless Nations League or friendlies to contend with. This time England are playing in actual ultra-important World Cup Qualifiers.
Therefore we, like other media companies, are trying our best to bring our loyal readership the most interesting stories with slim pickings. Naturally we'll cover the Foxes involved with their National Teams, including progress at the appropriate stages. For now we are going to talk about one fascinating matter from the past. And a notable Three Lions man is the subject of our piece today. Do you remember that time when Leicester almost signed Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Just yesterday (Thursday) I wrote about former LCFC scout extraordinaire Steve Walsh (Snr) wanting to sign a young Ousmane Dembele for City. True story.
Apparently the one-time Everton director of football was also monitoring Erling Haaland while with the Foxes. Neither player ultimately came to King Power Stadium, of course.
And that City chronicle brings us nicely on to Pickford, the Toffees' and England's extrovert stopper. He's been the No.1 at Goodison Park and Wembley for years now.
And Leicester may have benefited from Pickford's goalkeeping exploits. Walsh attempted to engineer a transfer to LCFC from the 31-year-old's previous team Sunderland.
An 'awful lot of money’ was offered to the Black Cats. Although that deal didn't materialise either. Pickford eventually went to Merseyside for £30 million. Meanwhile it seems City have somewhat hit the jackpot with Mads Hermansen.
