According to Globo.com, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has defended the work of Abel Ferreira and his players ahead of the Libertadores last 16 second leg against Cerro Porteño in Asunción.
The first leg in São Paulo ended level, so Verdão must win at the Nueva Olla to secure a quarter-final place.
In a social media post, Pereira said she has full confidence in the coaching staff, the football director and the squad, adding that the club would keep pushing towards its objectives.
A 3-2 defeat to Fluminense at the Maracanã on Saturday increased the pressure on Ferreira. The result left Palmeiras winless in four matches, their worst run of the season. Their Brasileirão lead, once eight points, is now three.
Despite the poor run, the hierarchy are standing by the manager and players going into one of their most important games of the campaign. The winners of Palmeiras versus Cerro Porteño will meet either LDU or Mirassol in the quarter-finals.
