Leila Pereira says Palmeiras are not in negotiations with Botafogo to sign Danilo, though the club would like him back.

According to Globo.com, she welcomed the Brazil call-up for the academy graduate and said other priorities come first.

Early this year Palmeiras made contact and signalled 20 million euros plus about 5 million in bonuses, but John Textor, then heading the SAF, refused to negotiate.

Palmeiras kept him on their radar, sensing Botafogo would shun talks with a domestic rival, especially as Danilo seemed set to reach 13 Serie A games, which would block a move within the division.

He then asked to be left out of last Sunday’s match against Corinthians, when he would have hit that mark. Botafogo were annoyed and will not use him again until the World Cup, keeping him eligible for another Brazilian club. Flamengo are also interested.

Now in Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man squad, Botafogo expect greater leverage and are eyeing offers near 40 million euros. Danilo wants to join a prominent club.

Palmeiras are monitoring developments and could go above the 25 million euros floated earlier, though no new figure is set.

Pereira said the focus is the next match and, above all, qualifying for the next phase of the Libertadores, a trophy missing from her tenure. She would be delighted to win it by December 2027.
