Foot Mercato have revealed that RC Lens have an agreement in place to sign Ecuador international Jhoanner Chávez (21). The full-back is already in France ahead of the completion of the move.
It had already been established that Lens were in the market for a left-back this January, and just eight days into the transfer window, they look to have found their man. Despite Faitout Maouassa’s strong performance against AS Monaco in the Coupe de France, Deiver Machado’s absence through injury leaves Les Sang et Or light down the left-hand side and Chávez will now come in to provide competition for Maouassa and push for a starting spot in Franck Haise’s side.
An agreement has already been concluded with Esporte Clube Bahia, whilst an agreement with Chávez himself has also been reached. The Ecuadorian full-back, who has three caps for the national team, was even in attendance at the Bollaert for Lens’ match against Monaco at the weekend ahead of the move, which is expected to be concluded imminently.
