Lens will be without Samson Baidoo at Marseille on Saturday, the defender ruled out with a hamstring problem for matchday 19. According to L'Équipe, he has withdrawn from the trip, which kicks off at 21.05.
As feared by the Lens staff, he will not anchor Ligue 1's best defence, which has conceded 13 goals in 18 games.
Head coach Pierre Sage had said Baidoo was dealing with hamstring pain that did not seem serious but could hinder him this weekend. Sage has named Nidal Celik, 19, and Kyllian Antonio, 18, in a 21-man squad to cover.
Celik, a Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 international with seven caps, has yet to play for the first team this season.
Antonio has logged only 13 minutes this term, in the Coupe de France round of 64 against Entente Feignies-Aulnoye, a 3-1 win on 19 December. He made three Ligue 1 appearances last season.
Goalkeeper Mathieu Gorgelin, signed on Monday after Régis Gurtner's serious injury, is included for the first time, while attacking midfielder Anthony Bermont also returns.
