Will Still has revealed that Kevin Danso (25) will be absent until the end of the month, as he undergoes cardiac tests following his failed medical ahead of his proposed move to AS Roma.

RC Lens had been expecting to sell Danso for much of the summer, amid interest notably from Serie A sides. An agreement was then reached with Roma, however, unexpectedly, a cardiac issue was detected. In a public statement, the Austria international stated that he was “surprised” and “disappointed” to have failed the medical.

Danso returns to training but won’t feature imminently

“Both the doctors of the Austrian Football Association and the medical department of RC Lens have closely monitored me and regularly examined me over the past few years. Most recently, I was thoroughly assessed at the start of pre-season training in Lens and no irregularities were ever found. Therefore, the interpretations of the medical check in Rome are highly perplexing and completely incomprehensible to my team and I,” added Danso.

However, no risks are being taken. The defender is undergoing further cardiac tests in order to ascertain the nature of the issue that was revealed during his Roma medical. As a result, Danso will not be available until the end of September, at the earliest, even though he did make a return to training on Friday. In his absence, Abdukodir Khusanov will be the first-choice pick for Les Sang et Or, alongside the undisplaceable Facundo Medina and Jonathan Gradit.
