Lens planning ambitious free transfer of Raphaël Varane from Manchester United | OneFootball

According to Foot Mercato, Lens are exploring the feasibility of being able to sign Raphaël Varane (31) on a free transfer from Manchester United in the summer transfer window. Any potential deal is not dependent on the future of Austrian international Kevin Danso at the club.

No direct contact has yet been made between Les Sang et Or and the former France international defender’s entourage at this stage. The Ligue 1 club are simply exploring the possibility of potentially pulling off the ambitious move which would see Varane return to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Set to leave Manchester United

After two years in Manchester, Raphaël Varane has decided to leave Old Trafford at the end of his contract on a free transfer. The former Real Madrid defender’s time in the North West of England will not have gone as he would have hoped with the Red Devils largely struggling. With the 31-year-old’s exit confirmed, he is now free to start discussing terms with interested clubs like Lens.
