Léo apologises for Paulista exit and backs Santos squad after 2-1 win over Vasco

Santos icon Léo used the post-match press conference to apologise for the club’s Paulista exit and to back the squad after the 2-1 win over Vasco. According to Diario Do Peixe, the former full-back spoke as the club’s professional-team coordinator and academy transition lead.
The victory leaves Santos on four points from four rounds, with one win, one draw and two defeats. They moved up to 13th in the Brasileiro, off the bottom.
He acknowledged the impact of the elimination on supporters, but said the group is uncomfortable with recent levels and can do more. He praised the head coach and said the team will give fans what they are expecting over the season.
Léo’s appearance formed part of efforts to strengthen the club’s internal environment at a time of scrutiny. He has been working as a link between the board, coaching staff and players.
He is also involved in professional football decisions and in integrating academy prospects with the first team.
