Vasco held Santa Fe to a 0-0 draw in the Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg, with Léo Jardim excelling as Spinelli endured another frustrating outing.

Pedro Emanuel rotated heavily and his side controlled territory before the break. According to Globo.com, Vasco fielded a largely second-string team, with only Léo Jardim retained.

Johan Rojas twice switched play to Puma Rodríguez, who threatened from range and with a low cross-shot. Spinelli headed dangerously from a corner on 11 minutes. Fabrizio Saldivia then slipped, allowing Fagúndez to rattle the crossbar.

After the interval, Rodallega went close with a header. Spinelli burst clear but shot at goalkeeper Asprilla, then misplaced a simple pass that would have released Marino Hinestroza. Marino later fashioned a chance that Nuno Moreira could not convert, and Nuno also chose a speculative long-range effort despite space to drive.

Santa Fe forced two threatening corners late on, and Jardim produced big saves from both. Bruno Duarte missed a late opening when trying to steer into the far corner, while Santiago Sosa’s higher positioning helped steady Vasco in the closing stages.

Lucas Piton struggled against Obrian on his flank, and Paulo Henrique sent a wayward effort after coming on. Lucas Freitas defended stoutly, making a key late intervention, although he could not reach a dangerous Fagúndez header near the end.
