Messi arrived in South Florida in summer 2023 and captained the club to its first four trophies, lifting the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield, the 2025 Eastern Conference title and the 2025 MLS Cup.

Individually, he won the 2025 MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi with 29 goals and 48 goal contributions, and was named Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player in 2024 and 2025, becoming the first in league history to claim the award in consecutive seasons.

Messi also fronted Inter Miami’s run to the round of 16 at the revamped 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scoring a free-kick in a 2-1 win over FC Porto that made the club the first from Concacaf to beat a European side in official competition, and the first team from the United States to win a Club World Cup match. That season he also led the side to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup semi-finals.
