Léo Ortiz left the field injured in the first half of Flamengo’s 18th round match against Coritiba at the Maracanã, with João Victor coming on Saturday 30. According to Coluna Do Fla, he requested the change after feeling pain in his right thigh.

Visibly upset, the defender headed straight to the Maracanã dressing room rather than sit on the bench, applauded by home supporters.

After 10 minutes, Samuel Lino put Flamengo ahead from a Pedro back-heel. That scoreline at the time cut the gap to Palmeiras to four points in the Brasileirão table.

At 15 minutes, in a one-on-one with Pedro Rocha, Ortiz felt discomfort in his right thigh. He tried to carry on but the pain told at the next passage of play.

Flamengo are still assessing the severity of Ortiz’s problem, and he joins Jorginho in the medical department. Jorginho missed the Coritiba match with a fractured big toe.
