Promising centre-back Leon King was reportedly on the brink of a permanent exit from Rangers, just days after he was seen on live football streaming in a friendly against Club Brugge.

The proposed move would have seen him reunite with his former Rangers teammate and fellow academy graduate, Alex Lowry, at Wycombe Wanderers but may have fallen into significant doubt.

Despite being seen as one of the brightest prospects coming through at Rangers, King has had limited first-team exposure over the last couple of seasons.

His stint at Rangers included a loan spell at Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship for the second half of the previous campaign.

King’s potential and promise have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs in England expressing interest in securing his services. The 21-year-old centre back has been regularly linked with permanent moves away from Rangers.

According to reports, King was set to sign for Wycombe Wanderers on a permanent deal. The Wanderers, a League One side, narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship last season.

Should this deal be finalised, it would offer King an opportunity to gain more first-team experience and further develop his skills.

The move to Wycombe Wanderers would also see King reunited with his former Rangers teammate, Alex Lowry. The playmaker joined Wycombe in January and has since made nine appearances in League One.

Both King and Lowry were once seen as the brightest prospects at Rangers, and their reunion at Wycombe would present an exciting prospect for the team and its fans.

King’s last game for Rangers was a start at centre back during the draw with Club Brugge. Despite Rangers struggling defensively in the first half, King’s performance was a testament to his potential and the value he could bring to his new team.

Leon King’s move to Wycombe Wanderers would represent a significant step in his career. It offered him the chance to gain more first-team exposure, develop his skills, and reunite with a former teammate.
