This week, Marseille’s squad travel to Rome for the first of what could be several training camps in Italy before the end of the season. The objective? To get away from the noise and furore of Marseille and the Commanderie training ground, which has been the scene of tension in recent weeks. Among those travelling will be Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi, who is recovering from a sprain to a ligament in his left knee. Whilst it was initially thought the Argentine international would miss the rest of the season for Les Olympiens, L’Équipe report that he is expected to back in action in time to face Stade Brestois this Sunday at the Vélodrome (20:45 CET).Balerdi has been out of action for OM since a decisive defeat to Stade de Reims (3-1) where he had to leave the pitch on the 34th minute with a knee injury. It was an absence which created a headache at the back for Roberto De Zerbi, with Luiz Felipe’s injury meaning that only Derek Cornelius had been available as a formal centre-back, but with the likes of Geoffrey Kondogbia and Ulisses Garcia dropping in to various levels of success.Les Phocéens regained their second spot in the Ligue 1 table last weekend with a win over bottom side Montpellier (5-1), with four games left to try and seal their spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
