The club have not disclosed terms, but Jardim is aiming for a salary equal to or higher than Abel Ferreira’s. He is represented by Portuguese agent Hugo Cajuda, who also handles Abel Ferreira and Artur Jorge, who coached Botafogo in 2024. The Palmeiras coach earns about R$ three million a month.

Jardim has fiscal residence in Monaco, in France, which exempts him from various taxes. To keep those benefits, he must spend at least 50 days in the principality. Fiscal residence is the address used for tax purposes, the country where a person pays federal taxes.

He also has an address in Portugal, his home country bordering Spain, and runs family businesses there. His wife, Carla Jardim, trained in psychology but does not practise. Together they run a wine and olive oil producer in Portugal.

Jardim is set to lead his first training session at Ninho do Urubu on Wednesday. Preparations focus on the Campeonato Carioca final against Fluminense, scheduled for Sunday at 18:00 Brasília time.
