Leonardo Jardim honest on Arrascaeta’s form at Flamengo after 3-1 win | OneFootball

Flamengo beat Santos 3-1 on Sunday in the 10th round of the Brasileirão, and Leonardo Jardim addressed Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s form, offering firm backing for his playmaker.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the coach said he knows Arrascaeta well from before his Flamengo spell, followed the club in 2019 and understood his importance, and felt the Uruguayan was fantastic last year.

Jardim added that he expects Arrascaeta to improve, called him important whether starting or coming off the bench, and described him as a talent who can be extremely decisive. He said the staff and supporters like him, and believes the best version of Arrascaeta can still emerge this year, stressing squad management amid injuries and suspensions and that everyone must feel useful.

Arrascaeta started against Santos, won the penalty that led to Jorginho’s strike for Flamengo’s second, then departed on 41 minutes of the second half. He had two shots, completed 20 of 27 passes and recorded 40 actions on the ball.

In 2026 so far he has played 13 matches for Flamengo, scoring three goals and providing one assist. All three goals have come from the spot.

Flamengo return on Wednesday, 08, to open their Libertadores campaign at Estádio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Peru, facing Cusco (PER) at 21:30 Brasília time.
