Flamengo have confirmed Leonardo Jardim as Filipe Luís’s successor, and the Portuguese coach had already overseen his first session earlier on Wednesday at Ninho do Urubu.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the workout began around 16:00 Brasília time, and the club announced his arrival at 19:00 on a two-year deal running to December 2027.
Footage from the session showed Jardim speaking closely with Gonzalo Plata, drawing laughter from the Ecuadorian. During drills he praised the team’s movement and urged them on.
Jardim’s debut is scheduled for Sunday against Fluminense in the Campeonato Carioca final. The single-leg tie will be played at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 18:00 Brasília time.
The final will be shown on Globo for much of Brazil, with coverage also on SporTV, Premiere pay-per-view and GETV on YouTube.
