Lepaul's double from the spot lifts Rennes into sixth

Rennes beat Brest 4-3 at Stade Francis-Le Blé to climb from seventh to sixth in Ligue 1, with Estéban Lepaul converting two penalties to settle a wild contest.
In the fourth minute Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe swept Brest ahead after Ludovic Ajorque's knockdown from a corner. Ludovic Blas levelled with a close-range finish (20.), then Lepaul converted from the spot after Mousa Al-Taamari was fouled by Grégoire Coudert, who was booked (34.).
After the restart Dina Ebimbe's glancing header made it 2-2 from a Bradley Locko cross (57.). Breel Embolo restored the visitors' lead from close range (63.) before Rémy Labeau Lascary lashed in an equaliser (70.).
Al-Taamari drew a second penalty when he was tripped by Kenny Lala (72.). VAR confirmed the spot kick and Lepaul rolled in the winner (74.).
Brice Samba preserved the points in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time, holding Pathé Mboup's header from the centre of the box.
Rennes finished with 60.5% possession. They attempted 15 shots, seven on target. Brest registered 10 attempts with four on target.
Lepaul is now on 16 league goals, leading the Ligue 1 scoring chart this season. Next, Rennes host Angers. Brest visit Nantes.
