The Jeremy Jacquet to Chelsea story may not be over just yet, and it seems like we are even speaking about for January here.
It emerged earlier on that Chelsea are not going to be signing the young centre back from Rennes this window, although there was talk of a pre-deal for the summer.
Then Chelsea decided they are recalling Aaron Anselmino from his season long loan deal at Dortmund, using an option to end it early. So there has since been all this talk that Chelsea will no longer be signing a new centre back and they might just use Anselmino instead.
But Jacquet to Chelsea might not be dead yet, and it may even still be sorted for this transfer window.

The French outlet report that it’s quite possible for Chelsea to return with an improved bid for Jacquet. They suggest the French club could accept it if it’s ‘slightly above €50m’. In short, the Blues are encouraged to raise their offer ‘slightly’ to secure Jacquet’s services.

But the puzzling thing is all of this is, what happens with Anselmino then if Chelsea do still sign Jacquet or get another centre back in/recalled from a loan? It’s all very strange.
There is a chance that Chelsea could still recall Mamdou Sarr from his loan at Strasbourg, as he has the same break clause that Chelsea could trigger.
He could come back, then Anselmino could head to Strasbourg to cover him leaving there? This is actually what I’ve been hearing is likely to happen. So it would not surprise me at all if all of that transpired, and Chelsea sort a pre-deal to sign Jacquet for the summer, or a loan back deal.
