Bayern are keen to retain the services of the winger and have offered Sane a new contract, though his future remains uncertain. The German champions are unwilling to significantly increase their latest offer to the 29-year-old. Upcoming negotiations are understood to feature around the size of a signing-on fee, rather that increase in salary.

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring developments, with Mikel Arteta having worked with Sane at former club Manchester City. The Gunners are keen to bring in another wide player in the summer and Sane’s availability on a free transfer appeals.

Sky Germany are reporting that Sane ‘would favour a move to the city of London’ if he leaves the Allianz Arena at the end of the campaign. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are alternative options for Sane.

The Germany international thrived during a previous spell in the Premier League. He won two Premier League titles with Manchester City and was named PFA Young Player of the Year during the first of those triumphs in 2017/18. That season, Sane scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists as City won the title with a record-breaking 100 points.

Since moving to Bayern in 2020, Sane has won four Bundesliga titles among his honours. This season he’s scored 11 goals and added four assists in the league, despite making just 17 starts.
