Levante captain itching to face Barcelona in La Liga: ‘We’re going in without fear’ | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have taken an early lead in the La Liga title race, having won four in four games so far since the start of the 2026/27 season.

The Blaugrana’s latest match against Valencia ended in a brutal 5-0 thrashing for the hosts at Mestalla, ensuring that Barça took a lead over second-placed Alaves and third-placed Real Madrid.

Up next for Hansi Flick’s men in the league is a contest against Levante UD on Sunday, although they have their UEFA Champions League opener against Feyenoord before that.

Levante captain motivated for Barcelona match

And, Levante forward and captain Roger Brugue has promised that his side will face Barcelona “without fear, without complexes and going all out” when the two teams meet on Sunday.

Barcelona arrive as league leaders with a perfect record, but Brugue believes Levante can cause problems in front of their home supporters.

“Barça are a great opponent and they’re in a good moment, but we also know that we’re strong at home,” Brugue told the club’s official media, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“We’ve won six in a row at home and we’re going in without fear, without complexes and going all out,”

“We’re going to work, put together a good game plan and, why not?” he added.

Playing as a unit will be key

With Levante having undergone significant changes during the summer, Brugue believes collective spirit will be crucial this season, especially when coming up against teams like Barcelona.

“We don’t have superstars. We have to all pull in the same direction and be a unit,” he said.

For Brugue, Levante’s success will depend on their willingness to work for one another.

“Unity, running more than anyone else and giving everything” must be the foundation of the team’s approach, as per the captain, particularly when they face a Barcelona side that has started the season in such dominant form.

Levante are currently 12th in the La Liga table with five points from four games (W1 D2 L1). Their latest game this past weekend ended in a goalless draw against newly-promoted side Malaga.
