Bayer Leverkusen have reignited their interest in SM Caen’s Tidiam Gomis (17) and will look to forge ahead with a deal before the end of the transfer window.
Over the summer, Foot Mercato reported that Leverkusen were interested in the player, but they were unable to agree on a deal with the Ligue 2 side. This setback has not stopped the current Bundesliga leaders from retrying to sign the highly touted prospect.
Gomis has been slowly bedded into Caen’s first team this season and is yet to make a start for the side as they ease their young talent into the demands of the professional game. However, he has become a fixture within the under-age brackets for the French national side.
The forward scored twice for the France under-17s in the Euros in July, before making the step up to the under-18s in September where he scored in his debut against England while playing as a left winger.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Caen remain reluctant to sell Gomis for anything below €12 million, and with an as-of-yet unnamed Italian club also circling the waters for the prospect, the side may well receive their asking price.
