Leverkusen ‘to consider’ Frankfurt defender Arthur Theate as target

Sacha Tavolieri reports that Bayer Leverkusen have expressed interest in Eintracht Frankfurt defender Arthur Theate.

The situation in Leverkusen’s central defence is currently unclear, with departures and loans possible, so the Rhineland club have identified the versatile centre-back as an option for the 2026-27 Bundesliga season.

Leverkusen could face competition from Türkiye, with Besiktas having made initial contact. City rivals Galatasaray are monitoring and could act if there are further exits in defence.

Frankfurt hope to bring in between €15 and €20 million for the 36-cap Belgium international, who first joined on loan in 2024.

Theate completed a permanent switch from Stade Rennes in spring 2025 for €13 million and remains under contract until 2029.
