After putting seven goals past Real Valladolid and four past Girona, Barcelona pelted five goals against Villarreal on Sunday night after an epic battle at Estadi de La Ceramica.

The night had its lows including when Marc-Andre Ter Stegen left the field with a serious knee injury but the result at full-time lifted the spirits of players and fans alike.

With the win against Marcelino’s men, the Blaugrana move to 18 points in six games, retaining their perfect record in La Liga and a four-point cushion over Real Madrid.

Needless to say, pundits across the globe have been left bewildered as to what Hansi Flick has changed in the dressing room to earn such a reaction.

Lewandowski talks following the victory

Speaking to the media after the game, Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski was asked what changed under the new manager to propel the team to such a positive start to the season.

“What has changed from last season? We’ve started to play more on passing and playing forward. My job is to always score and try to get the ball and attack the spaces,” he said (h/t Barça One).

“I think we’re good as a group and we showed that today by scoring 5 goals,” he added, emphasising the importance of turning up as a collective.

Lewandowski enjoyed a stellar outing at La Ceramica even on a personal level, scoring twice on the night to break the deadlock and help the team to a comfortable situation at half-time.

His goals on the night included a calm finish off a Pablo Torre Assist before he pounced on Eric Garcia’s missed chance to fire a second with an overhead kick.

With his two goals against the Yellow Submarines, Lewandowski sits pretty on the top of the Pichichi standings with six goals in as many games.

His teammate Raphinha is second on the list with five while Kylian Mbappe sits in third place on four goals.
