City defender Sacha Lewis made her 2026 U20 World Cup debut as England put on an impressive performance in their 5-1 group stage win over Tanzania.

It was a clinical opening 45 minutes from the young Lionesses as Rachel Maltby bagged a hat-trick after Princess Ademiluyi began the first-half scoring.

Lewis entered the fold just after the hour to tally her first set of minutes in the 2026 U20 competition.

And it provided the 18-year-old, who put pen to paper on her first professional contract with City just weeks before travelling with the Lionesses, with the chance to earn valuable international experience.

Deployed in her favoured position, right-back, the City defender did well to provide good link-up and energy down the right-hand side in a game that constantly switched from end-to-end.

Tanzania pulled a goal back before Jessie Gale restored England’s four-goal advantage before the Lionesses held out for the 5-1 victory in Poland.

Fellow City player and goalkeeper Eve Annets was an unused substitute.

Following a 1-1 draw with Canada in their opening Group B game, England now face group leaders Brazil who have a 100% record and have already confirmed their place in the Round of 16.

A point for the Lionesses would confirm their place in the knockout stage.

England will take on the South American outfit on Friday 11 September, with kick-off set for 15:00 (UK).
