Lewis Dobbin says he still wants a chance at Aston Villa while enjoying a fruitful loan at Preston. Nearly two years on from his £10m move from Everton, the 23-year-old has yet to play a competitive game for Villa.
His current stint is far more productive than last season’s at West Brom, with eight goals in 34 appearances across all competitions as Preston flirted with the play-offs. According to ExpressAndStar.com, he spoke about his situation during the international break.
Dobbin joined Albion on loan in summer 2024, but managed 18 appearances, only two from the start, before Villa recalled him.
He headed to Norwich, where an early spark was cut short by injury, then moved to Preston last summer. He has two years left on his Villa contract and admits he is unsure where his future lies.
"I just take it game by game and see what happens. Football's a weird game so you never know what's around the corner. I've just got to perform at my highest level and see where that takes me."
"I'm contracted to Villa. I went there with the aspirations to play for Villa. That's always my goal, that's always the long-term goal."
"Hopefully, I get the chance one day but if not, it's not the end of the world. I'll back myself to have a good move if I was to leave Villa. We'll just see what happens in the future but definitely my aim is to play for Villa one day."
