Rico Lewis says hitting the landmark of 100 senior games for Manchester City still doesn’t feel real on the latest edition of the official Man City Podcast.

A graduate from City's famed Academy production line who made his senior debut in 2022, Lewis chalked up the notable landmark when coming on off the bench in our 5-1 Premier League win over Burnley last weekend.

It’s a magnificent achievement for a player who has gone from strength to strength since making his first team bow in September 2022, having helped the Club he joined as eight-year-old claim seven major trophies.

However, speaking on the latest edition of the official Man City Podcast, Lewis admitted he was still trying to process having reached that three-figure landmark

“Obviously [reaching] 100 is a big achievement but it feels like it’s gone very quickly as well,” Lewis reflected.

“It doesn’t feel like I’ve played 100 games. It doesn’t feel real.

“It feels like only the other day when I was making my debut.

“To get to 100 games this early in my career for City in this kind of team is amazing for me.

“Thanks to the manager for putting his trust in me and to the players for helping me along the way as well.

“I’m still young and feel like I’ve got a lot to learn, and I’ve got time to learn,

“But yes, I do feel a bit of responsibility around myself and progression within the team.”

The England international, who signed a new long-term contract earlier this month, has been part of a City squad that has made a fine start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Brentford, which marks our last match before the October international break, Pep Guardiola’s side have gone unbeaten in six games across all competitions.

Asked about the factors underpinning that solid opening six weeks or so, Lewis pointed to the spirit and belief engendered throughout the squad.

And he also said that seeking to bounce back from the frustrations of last term was also serving as a major motivator.

“I’d say the main difference is in training and the feeling around the building in general. We’ve got a good vibe,” Lewis added.

“Obviously, we started off last season really well too which people forget.

“I think there is an intensity and desire in training. Everyone is wanting to do well and to push each other to make everyone else do well too.

“If you win all the time, it makes you want to go into the next season still with that desire but if you come off a season where you have not won, it gives you a bit more fire to win again.

“There is definitely an incentive for us to win the Premier League and to get that back.

“So, there is definitely a bit more incentive this season.”
