Liverpool Transfer Interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi: Lewis Steele Offers Reality Check

Liverpool’s transfer activity continues to attract intense scrutiny this summer, but while much of the focus remains on the club’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, journalist Lewis Steele also provided an intriguing update on Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi during a recent discussion on his YouTube channel.

The teenager has been linked with several elite European clubs in recent months, with Liverpool among the sides credited with an interest. However, Steele’s assessment suggested that while admiration exists, the situation may not be as advanced as some supporters believe.

Competition Building Across Europe

Steele believes Liverpool are not currently leading the race for the Lille midfielder.

“I do think that Real Madrid or maybe an Arsenal even seem to have done a little bit more on that.”

That observation highlights the challenge facing Liverpool should they decide to accelerate their interest. Bouaddi’s performances have attracted attention from some of Europe’s most powerful clubs, creating a highly competitive market for one of the continent’s most promising young midfielders.

Steele’s comments indicate that Liverpool remain involved in discussions surrounding the player but are not driving the process in the same way they appear to be with Diomande.

“I do think that Liverpool, they’re in the conversation, but they’re not at the forefront of the conversation in the same way they are with perhaps Yan Diomande.”

Midfield Plans Still Unclear

One notable takeaway from Steele’s wider transfer update was his belief that Liverpool still intend to strengthen in midfield before the transfer window closes.

“One thing that would worry, maybe not worry me, but there’s not much noise in terms of the midfield area.”

Despite the lack of public developments, Steele remains convinced that recruitment in that department remains part of Liverpool’s plans.

“I do maintain that Liverpool want to sign a midfielder this summer.”

“It’s just quiet at the moment.”

That context is significant when assessing the Bouaddi links. Liverpool’s midfield search appears active behind the scenes, even if no specific target has yet emerged as the clear priority.

Patience Required for Liverpool Supporters

Steele’s update offered a measured assessment rather than a dramatic transfer revelation. Liverpool appreciate Bouaddi’s talent, they have monitored him extensively, and they remain aware of his situation. Yet, based on the information shared, there is currently no indication that a move is close.

Instead, the picture painted was one of Liverpool keeping a close eye on an elite young midfielder while other clubs may currently be further down the road in their pursuit.

For now, Bouaddi remains a player Liverpool admire rather than one they appear to be actively chasing. As Steele noted, there is still time for circumstances to change, but at present the club’s focus appears far more advanced elsewhere, particularly regarding their pursuit of Yan Diomande.
