LFP to decide venue for Rennes v PSG return match on Friday | OneFootball

The LFP competitions commission meets on Friday morning to decide the venue for Rennes v PSG’s return Ligue 1 fixture, scheduled for the weekend of six March in the 23rd round.

According to L'Équipe, PSG v Rennes on the first matchday was switched because Paris Saint-Germain were the only club in Europe without a playable pitch at the start of the league campaign, leaving Rennes to host at short notice.

With no fallback site available, Sunday’s game was played at Roazhon Park and finished 2-2. Regulations state that an inversion has no effect on the rest of the calendar, except in exceptional circumstances.

The Paris pitch had suffered during recent heatwaves, and the commission will determine whether that amounted to an exception.

Rennes, represented by board chair Nicolas De Tavernost, executive president Arnaud Pouille, deputy managing director for support services Élodie Crocq, and stadium manager and head of security Pierre Juhel, believes the return should be in Brittany. PSG prefers the Parc des Princes. Paris coach Luis Enrique said he did not know the regulations but maintained the same team should not play both fixtures at home or both away.
